Whether you’ve grabbed the sample pack, entire Moist Collection, or you’re on the fence about purchasing, here’s a breakdown of how to use each tgin product to help you retain maximum moisture in each step of your natural hair regimen:

Pre-Poo with Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner

The pre-poo is really your first line of defense in terms of moisture retention. When you pre-poo your hair, you essentially allow a nourishing oil or conditioner to penetrate your hair before you even wash it. When oil and moisture (water) penetrate the cortex, less is stripped in the cleansing process. Simply finger part your hair into 4 sections, and grab a spray bottle with water. Take your first section of hair, spritz it with water, and add a generous amount of tgin Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner to the hair. Work it through gently from ends to root, finger detangling as you go. Add more water as necessary. Once the section is fully coated in conditioner and detangled, twist it up. Repeat the previous steps for each section.
Gently Cleanse with Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo

We’re sure by now, you’ve heard to stay away from sulfate-containing shampoos and co-wash your hair exclusively. But the truth is, every natural hair regimen must incorporate shampoo. Even though conditioner does a good job of cleansing hair, it does leave some buildup behind on the hair and scalp. tgin Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo is gentle enough to be used daily, but contains enough cleansing power to remove dirt, oil, and buildup even if you only shampoo monthly.

After pre-pooing with our Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner, take your Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo and a few clips with you into the shower or keep them handy at the sink. Take down your first section of hair, and allow the water to rinse out your pre-poo and prime your hair for cleansing. Take a dime sized amount of Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo and apply it directly to your scalp with the pads of your fingertips. To avoid tangles while cleansing, take one hand and move your thumb and index finger about an inch from your scalp, and hold the hair. While holding your hair, gently massage your scalp in a circular motion to remove dirt, oils, and other buildup. After your scalp is cleansed, move the shampoo suds down the length of your hair in a gentle finger detangling motion. Rinse, re-twist, and clip it out of the way. Repeat for the remaining sections of hair.

Deep Condition with Honey Miracle Hair Mask

Deep conditioning is key for moisture retention. Deep conditioning provides more hydration, strength, and helps improve the elasticity and softness of the hair, significantly reducing brittle hair and breakage. After your hair has been thoroughly cleansed, use a microfiber towel or old t-shirt to remove excess water from each section by squeezing and holding for 3-5 seconds. Your hair should still be wet, but not dripping. In sections, take a generous amount of Honey Miracle Hair Mask and work it through the hair, beginning at the ends. After each section is thoroughly coated and re-twisted, clip all of your hair up and cover it with a plastic cap. You can sit under a hooded dryer for 20-30 minutes, wrap your head in a warm towel, or even put on a beanie to use your own body heat to enhance the effects of the Honey Miracle Hair Mask. After 20-30 minutes of deep conditioning, rinse out all of the Mask under lukewarm water.

Moisturize and Seal with tgin Products

After you’ve pre-pooed, cleansed gently, and deep conditioned, it’s time to moisturize and seal. Depending on your hair texture, this is easily the most customizable step in a hair care regimen. After working to maintain moisture throughout each step of your regimen, how much or how little you do in this step is totally up to what works best for your hair. Some naturals with dense, thick, and highly textured hair tend to gravitate toward the LOC method:

Liquid: After your hair is cleansed, apply a water-based leave in (often a spritz or lotion)
Oil: After your liquid leave-in, apply an oil or oil-based moisturizer
Cream: After the other two, apply a cream or butter-based product to seal everything in

Another popular sealing method is LCO or LCB — which takes the same principles of LOC and just switches the oil/oil-based and cream steps (or swaps it out completely for a butter). Here’s how to LCO with tgin products:

Liquid: In a spray bottle, mix 2oz of water and approximately 1 tablespoon of Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner. Shake until it creates a translucent, white conditioner spray. Spray it generously throughout the hair, concentrating on your ends.

Cream: Following the leave-in, apply a quarter-sized amount of Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer to each section of your hair, again concentrating on the ends.

Oil/Butter: To seal moisture into your hair, use tgin Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum (oil), or our Organic Shea Butter in your favorite fragrance. Work the oil or butter through each section of your hair. Go back and apply a little extra on your ends if necessary.

After sealing, it’s time to style! Set your hair in your favorite protective updo, twists, braids, or bantu knots for a stretched and textured “out” style. O
